Did you know that 1 in 4 Americans suffer from a mental illness?

Practicing self-care is important as it refuels your body and mind and allows you to help yourself as well as support others around you!

Here are 4 simple steps for success!

1. Move More!!  Physical activity helps our brains process stress more easily making it beneficial in the treatment of depression and anxiety. A brief walk around the office, outside around the parking lot, or on a treadmill can help rejuvenate our bodies.

2. Eat a Balanced Diet! What we eat and drink directly affects our bodies, alters our moods, and hinders our ability to prevent and fight illnesses. Reduce sugar, caffeine, and processed foods and increase vegetables, fruits, and whole grains.

3. Prioritize Sleep! Getting enough sleep can help regulate your mood, improve brain function, and increase your energy to help tackle whatever comes your way.

4. Plan Self Care and Set Boundaries!  It's critical to have planned self-help times for yourself, be intentional and plan things that bring you joy. Setting boundaries will help you feel safe and comfortable in your surroundings.
